Howdy all, just moved into the Hillsborough area. Came on this site by "google accident". Seems like a real friendly bunch.

We ended up compromising on a house in a development instead of the country with a barn/workshop. So the LOML for 20 years gave me our 2 car garage for a workshop! Set just has to be moveable enough to get in one car for a hurricane!

I have been remodelling (4 houses) and doing basic carpentry my whole life for fun. So I know the techniques, just need the hands on practice! My wonderful wife said she'd like me to concentrate on things that we can take with us if we move instead of leaving for the next people to enjoy. So I am starting a basic workshop, not on a high-end budget. Am having a great time!

Started small with a "Pottery Barn" style ladder display case. Challenge was dealing with a lot of compound angles.

My next project is a small kitchen trestle table. Ceramic tile top with table made from Lyptus wood. Just got the wood from a great store - The Hardwood Store in Gibsonville - My new 2nd favorite store!

Looks like this is a great site and I hope to both contribute and benefit. Love to catch up with anyone in my area. I'm a country boy from upstate NY at heart!Dan

Dan, welcome! Thanks for the introduction and bonus points for including pictures in your first post. You may not know this, but some people on this site like pictures

Good luck with the table, don't forget to keep us apprised on your progress. The finished result is important, but seeing it take shape is even more fun.

Welcome to the site Dan. A bunch of us are meeting for lunch at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Bullock's BBQ in Durham. I see you live in Hillsborough. If you can join us you'll share some good food and fellowship. Hope to see you there.

Welcome, Dan. I like the way that shelf unit leans toward the wall, and has a sort of "A" shape.
