Just joined. I am a lifelong woodworker who makes a living doing IT work for a big bank in Charlotte. I exclusively do what I need to do. I have very limited time due to work and 3 young kids and wife. I am doing ALL the work on a complete kitchen renovation. Last renovation to this kitchen was done some time in the 70s and before that, in 1925. I built 3 cabinets out of 5/8 Melamine where I needed custom sizes and purchased the standard sizes from IKEA. I will be ordering the drawer fronts and doors from a supplier. I have the shaper, shaper cutters, planer, jointer, etc to make the doors however due to time ..... oh well. Nevertheless, I would love to have the time to make it all myself....

Welcome John. I hear a repeated theme about having time to do it. Let me know if you solve that one. The only thing I can think of is giving up sleep.

Welcome John. Haven't been here long myself or woodworking for that matter but can tell you this is a good bunch of people.

What bank John? I work for BOA, would be interested where you are if you do as well.

Welcome to NCWWer John. I think a lot of folks on here share your predicament. Please share some pictures of your work, especially the kitchen remodel. I look forward to your input in the forums.

Greetings! Sounds like you have a full plate. And when the kitchen is done, places to store those full plates

Re: New member in Charlotte

Welcome to our virtual sawdust pile, John -- glad you found us and we know you'll enjoy this great place for woodworkers. Hopefully, you'll find the needed time as your kids sleep (BTDT!, but it was years and years ago). We look forward to your participation.

Re: New member in Charlotte

Glad to have you with us John. I am most interested in your kitchen project since I am starting mine right now. I would love to hear all the gory details to your project and maybe even see them some day. Start pictures, construction pictures and especially finished pictures would be wonderful.

Dan, I work at Wachovia on the Investment Banking side. I do incident and problem management. So when things break, I get to orchestrate the fixing. And then I start my professional second guessing and point about a bunch of problems that I see in my 20 20 hindsight.
