My screen name is bobby g and I've been a member for some time now but just hadn't taken the time to introduce myself. A year before my retirement in 1990, my wife Sandra and I moved from Painesville (a little east of Cleveland), Ohio. Sandra was born in Pittsboro and is a UNC graduate so I'm a Tarheel by marriage. I'm a college basketball nut and enjoy football as well. Still a Browns fan... and that's tough these days! I've been a woodworker since about the 7th grade (1951) although really only got into a shop that I had time to use after we moved down here. We moved into our current home in November of last year and I'm miles behind on projects that I had asked the builder to leave for me not to mention wanting to put more finishing touches on the shop. But all-in-all, I'm a lucky man to be having so much fun everyday.

My woodworking interest is in building contemporary furniture of mostly my own design. My favorite wood is cherry. I'm a long time member of Triangle Woodworkers Association.

It's really great to be a part of the North Carolina Woodworker group. I've never run into a more knowledgeable, supportive and friendly bunch of people. Today, I became a "sponsor". Thanks to all of you "old timers" that started this and keep it going.

Re: My name is Bob and I'm a woodworker

Hi Bob, welcome. I'm also originally from the east suburbs of Cleveland, growing up in the Pepper Pike and Chagrin Falls area. Been in North Carolina for almost 30 years with an eight year stop over in New Orleans. But, like you, I'm still a Browns fan.

My father built a couple of houses in Waite Hill, which I'm sure you know well.

Anyway, glad to have you here, and look forward to hearing what you're up to and seeing some of your work.

Matt

Welcome to the nicest sawdust pile in the universe -- glad you've come out of the shadows and it sounds like you love the joys of woodworking like the rest of us. We look forward to your input and participation -- I'm a strong proponent of local clubs, too. I am a co-founder of the Western NC Woodworkers Association centered in the Asheville area, now some 60 members strong.

Bob! Glad to have you with us

I'm from Pittsburgh originally, so I can extend the pat of sympathy to your Browns fanhood

Hi Bob,

Where in Pittsboro are you? Bobcat Bob and I both live on the "Bob Cat Point" development, which is about 7 miles north up the 87 from Pittsboro centre.
