My screen name is bobby g and I've been a member for some time now but just hadn't taken the time to introduce myself. A year before my retirement in 1990, my wife Sandra and I moved from Painesville (a little east of Cleveland), Ohio. Sandra was born in Pittsboro and is a UNC graduate so I'm a Tarheel by marriage. I'm a college basketball nut and enjoy football as well. Still a Browns fan... and that's tough these days! I've been a woodworker since about the 7th grade (1951) although really only got into a shop that I had time to use after we moved down here. We moved into our current home in November of last year and I'm miles behind on projects that I had asked the builder to leave for me not to mention wanting to put more finishing touches on the shop. But all-in-all, I'm a lucky man to be having so much fun everyday.

My woodworking interest is in building contemporary furniture of mostly my own design. My favorite wood is cherry. I'm a long time member of Triangle Woodworkers Association.

It's really great to be a part of the North Carolina Woodworker group. I've never run into a more knowledgeable, supportive and friendly bunch of people. Today, I became a "sponsor". Thanks to all of you "old timers" that started this and keep it going.

Good one, Jeff. Wood should only be round when it is still a tree!

Oh, welcome , Bob. When someone finally introduces themself, are they "coming out of the woodwork" or going back?

Bob, are you familiar with Coe Manufacturing Company? They are in Painesville. They make woodworking machinery. I have done business with them for over 30 years. Their cheapest peace of machinery is about $80,000.00. It is called a skoog machine.

Yes, I have heard of Coe. What is a skoog machine?

Thanks. OK, here's the confession. I have left a space in the shop for a lathe but don't plan to purchase one until I'm caught up with all of the stuff to finish the house. I love new challenges and suspect that if I put in a lathe now I'd be hooked and diverted for quite a while.
