Hello everyone. Man, this website is full of really nice people. I think I mainly just joined so I could be friends with yall. My name is Ben, I'm a historian, I live in Chapel Hill and just moved down from Boston. Before that Houston, before that Auburn, with a stop here and there in London, Montana, and a birth in Atlanta a ways back. I worked for a rustic furniture maker who used a lot of locust and mt laurel, and learned by just trying things out. I'm afraid that's still mainly how I operate. Sometimes I cuss a lot in the woodshop.

I'm working on a walnut dining room table that's as big as a bus. I started a thread today and have already gotten lots of great advice.

Here's some pics:

Welcome Ben!! Have to ask. Where in Montana? I'm born and raised there and still have "moving away from there" withdrawls every day.

Cute kids!!!

Welcome Ben from a former Chapahellion! Lots of great folks here waiting to share.

I guess you haven't introduced your darlings to the classic Rock n Roll song: "No more Monkeys jumping on the bed" huh? Mighty cute!

Welcome from one Chapel Hillian to another. We look forward to your input and pics of your work. It looks as if you have two little munchkins that probably cut into your shop time. Enjoy them while you can...they grow up fast.

Hi Tom, I lived in Clyde Park, just north of Livingston and Bozeman. Worked at a place called the Crazy Mountain Ranch, which was a cattle ranch when I was there but has since morphed into a sort of shi-shi dude ranch. I truly had no idea what I was doing and broke lots of tractors and probably scared the cows more than I helped them.
