Although my zip code says Oakboro,I'm in the city limits of Red Cross. We're a new city, just a few years old.We don't have our own post office yet,so they gave us an Oakboro mailing address.Red Cross sits between the communities of Frog Pond and Big Lick (geographical history behind the name Big Lick).I was born and raised in Albemarle, and spent over 12 years in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club (a.k.a U.S. Navy),in naval aviation.During that time I was stationed in Brunswick ,Maine (any place it snows on Mother's Day isn't for me) Jacksonville, Fl, and Virginia Beach,Va.Also spent 5 months in Bermuda and 6 months in Spain.with short visits to France,Italy,Israel,Gibraltar,Puerto Rico and Portugal.
I've been scrollsawing for about 4 years concentrating mainly on portraits.
I'm wanting to try intarsia.I haven't seen any posts about intarsia here.I hope there's a knowledge base here for it.I'll be needing help.I REALLY like this Pony Express you have set up here.I work in Charlotte,so perhaps I can be a relay leg for someone.

Welcome, Rod.

Reading the topic title, I was ready to chime about my going to the Red Cross in Winston-Salem Tuesday morning. I am a double-donor.

Welcome, Rod!!! Finally, another Stanly County native!!:i con_thum
Man, am I glad to see you join! This crowd has been tough to handle alone!! I live over near Porter.

Seriously, I look forward to meeting you. There are some GREAT scrollsaw artists on this site. You'll meet them soon enough, but check out the galleries of: sawduster, ncscroller, cskipper, rita, to name a few.

If you'd showed up sooner, I'd have you making this PE run with me today.

From one scroll sawer to another Welcome to the site - some of these guys have been giving me a hard time about going over to the dark side of the wood working world (turning) but scrolling is still my first love in wood working Seriously this is the best bunch of folks you will find - I have seen some Intarsia at the picnic this past Fall in Hickory but I can't remember who had it - hope to see some of your work real soon -

Welcome aboard, Rod. Maybe you can give a few of the old hot rodders here something to ponder by telling them about the Oakboro burnout nights.

Re: Greetings from Red Cross

Welcome to the group Rod! Keep your head on a swivel over there near Albemarle; you never know when you'll see a Jackleg on the loose. You've definitely found the right place to share your scrolling. You'll have lots of company here! BTW, have you ever tried turning .

Welcome Rod, and good luck with that Intarsia. My first love is also scrolling, but I get into a little bit of everything.
