This is Rodger Barrow owner of East Wake Hardwoods and The Woodworkers of North Carolina Gallery (The WONC Gallery). I sell retail furniture grade lumber,(domestic and exotic) in lumber, slabs, and turning stock. The Gallery is set up strickly for the purpose of promoting the woodworkers of North Carolina. I offer a discount to any NCWoodworker member who brings in their coupon. Some of you may be interested in the load of old Walnut that I received yesterday. This is the neighbor hood of 3000 bft. 4/4 and 400 bft. of 8/4. This stock has been drying for over 35 years and came ot of Virginia. Some boards have some issues that I would make allowances for but there is still a tremendous amount of high quality walnut, rich in color that we just don't get to see today. Wide boards are also available. This stock is selling at $4.00 per bft. (regular price is $5.87). With your discount that would put it at $3.60 per bft. If you hav not been out yet to see my wood or check out the gallery, please come by. I think that you will enjoy it. Rodger | | Views: 1208 |

My first post was written when I was still annoyed, probably as much at myself for not checking as for anything else. I should have called, and I figure the price of the lesson was worth it. So don't worry about my gas cost or anything else.
Just say hi if you're at the picnic and me in the head for not calling first.

I spend alot of time at his store and and see him work with customers all the time and he treats them all like they are the most important one of all. I also know how hard he is trying to get his web site updated. |

* Roger said "None of us in the lumber business are getting rich doing it. Mostly it is the joy of finding beautiful wood, working with it, and having it available to our customers."
* Then there Kyle's "and us sawyers we are already discounted."
Put the two together and you get someone who finds joy in beautiful wood and doesn't make much sawing it.
How true, oh how true... |
