Antique Tool Lover

Hi all,

I just got a referral to the site from the Triangle Woodworkers. Looks like a very well planned site and very easy to get around in.

My main interest is in antique tool collecting. I do have a fairly good power tool shop where I will admit I do most of my woodworking.

Foot powered machinery such as scroll saws, table saws, lathes, etc., is my real passion. I think they are pretty as well as very functional.

I am a member of Mid West Tool Collectors Association which is a non-profit dedicated to the use, study and preservation of antique tools. See link to website. We have an active group here in NC with a large meeting (240 people) coming up in July here in Raleigh. (I will be posting more info on that later this month.)

I am always interested in "talking tools" and providing info about M-WTCA.

Looking forward to using the site and meeting others that may have a similar interest.

Thanks Ed Hobbs, Raleigh, NC

Welcome Ed, glad you could join us. Thanks for the introduction. I don't believe I've met you at TWA, next meeting say Hi, I'm the young one I would love to see some pictures of your tool collection, especially the foot powered pieces. When you get a chance please go to the Help Desk and Request a Photo Album and post a few pictures for us all to see.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Glad you decdided to join us Ed. I wasn't able to make it to last year's event you hosted, but certainly heard a lot of positive comments. We look forward to your posts and hopefully some pixs of your antique tools. I think they are truly cool

Re: Antique Tool Lover

Hello Ed,
Glad you have joined the group and it’s great to have another MWTCA member aboard. You’ll find a lot of talented and friendly folks here, and I’m sure your old tool expertise will be very interesting. Most of you probably don’t know, but Ed is a leader in MWTCA and has been very instrumental in making our NC MWTCA group one of the strongest Mid-West groups in the nation. As Ed mentioned, the MWTCA meeting at his farm in July is always super and our best meeting of the year. Ed’s tool collection is phenomenal, and he always has it open for display at the July meeting. Again, glad you joined us Ed!!

Re: Antique Tool Lover

Ed, Welcome to North Carolina Woodworker. I am glad you could join us. I would love to see some pix of the antique tools you have collected. I have been to one MWTCA meeting as a quest of Randy and had a great time there.

Re: Antique Tool Lover

About time Ed!!! Glad to see you join the group. This is a good group of folks, and TWA has seen quite a few new members coming from here. I was wondering about whether or not to post the information about the upcoming July meeting here for you, but now that you're getting all set to do so, I sure won't steal your thunder!

Re: Antique Tool Lover

Welcome, Ed!

I'm a recent new member, but have found this to be a great gang. For you other folks, I also know Ed from MWTCA and share a love of old tools (I recently re-joined after a several year absence). Maybe it helps to be an old tool to love old tools . I've never made it to Ed's place for the annual meeting there, but hope to get it done this year. I hear it makes for a great meeting. I'll add to the clamor for photos. Let's seem some of your stash, Ed.
