Woodsmith TV

Just got finished watching The Woodsmith Show (don'tch just love TIVO?) I found it to be very informative. They don't do projects, they show you techniques to apply to your own projects. I have DIRECTV and get the show on my local channels (WTVI). I'm gonna e-mail UNC-TV anyway to help others to receive it.

Re: Woodsmith TV

Just watched it myself. I really like the show! Great format and very informative without being condescending. I like that there are multiple hosts and they cover different aspects of the same technique. While I already know how to make frame and panel construction, I found the show to be well done and very comprehensive. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Bravo WoodSmith

Silly question Doug. How does one get channel 203 in the Ral/Durham area? I have Time Warner, but do I need digital service?

TIA

Wayne

To get the higher channels, you need either a digital TV or the box from the cable company. Most analog TV tuners don't go far over channel 125 (UHF). On our analog TV (125 channel capable) hooked directly to the cable, I can only get up to Ch 76 with Time Warner. On the digital, we also have the digital converter box, and it goes up 1200+.

Go

Re: Woodsmith TV

I am afraid I already know the answer but is UNCED a different channel than UNCTV on PBS?

Re: Woodsmith TV

I watched it this afternoon too and liked it. I like that they demonstrated different methods to do the same thing ... and the steps were fairly clear.

Re: Woodsmith TV

Tommy,
UNCED is one of the digital UNCTV channels on cable. On our (Concord) Time Warner Cable we have UNCTV (Channel 4 -same as what comes through the rabbit ears), UNCTV Digital (Channel 200 - Same as Channel 4 but digital), UNCHD (Channel 201 - special programing in High Definition), UNCKD (Channel 202 - kids programing), UNCED (Channel 203 - mostly educational, travel, cooking, crafts, etc) and UNCNC (Channel 204 - mostly NC related/produced shows). If you don't have cable or pay for the digital tier of channels you'll have to depend on the kindness of your friends to make room on their DVR for you.

Re: Woodsmith TV

Unfortunately, I have digital and every channel offered here. However, it's Charter and not TW. I can get UNCTV, DIY etc, but not any of the UNC channels other than the normal UNC #4. I'm about this close to switching to Dish Network. Charter doesn't offer HD or DVR's in Roanoke Rapids and won't even give an answer as to when they will. The only reason I've kept them is that until about a year ago, DSL wasn't offered in my area.
