Shop Cat - Redux

When, I setup the gallery on this site one of the first pictures I put up in gallery named "Shop Pets" was :

I made the Gallery public. My intent was to make sure members understood that pictures didn't have to be 100% on topic. It seemed to worked, because we have picture of other pets, children, spiders, snakes.

The description was "Ladybug, 19 yr. old, Deaf. Loves to sleep on latest project"

I was wrong she was only 16 and also liked to throwup on my latest project. I have a piece unmilled sft maple that I wish she could vomit on

Ladybug
RIP
died 6:30 pm 11/16/2005
Put to sleep to save her from the ravages of lung cancer.

Part of me wonders if the sawdust in the shop did it.

Sorry for being so maudlin, must be the pills

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

Steve,

Knowing how much I love my little dog, and our cat, I can only offer my deepest sympathy for your loss. We have to give our cat phenobarbital twice daily to lessen the effects of seizures. Sometimes I wonder if having a pet is worth it and then I look into their eyes and I get my answer. YOU BET IT IS WORTH IT.

I feel for you. I know that's a tough thing to do, but the right thing to do.

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

Oh, Steve I am really sorry, she was the only cat that could tolerate your cussing in the shop (being deaf and all). I really hate to hear of your loss. I have a few if you want them, and they will also puke on your wood Seriously, she was a beautiful cat and a long time friend, I hope she is Kitty Heaven, scratchin' away on some nice leather couch. I have a tear in my eye

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I know how difficult it is to make that decision and what it is to miss them and wonder if you could have done more.... She's still there with you. Pets are so worth it. I'm sorry for your loss.

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

Steve,

I was reading this thread as I threw my cat off my desk as she continuously walks in front of my screen. Well, I picked her up, told her I loved her and even though she's a pain in the neck I'm glad she's still here. Olive thanks you and I send my deepest sympathy.

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

I, too, am sorry to hear you had to do that as well. I had a dog that I had to put down. She was smart as could be, sneaky and a lot character! My ex had picked her out and then dumped her on me. Unfortunately she developed diabetes. Had to give her shots every day - and she looked as if Ihad starved her. Even when she started going blind I debated. When the time came I took it a lot harder than I thought. Stupid dog! They just have a way of getting into your heart without ever muttering a single intelligible word. Guess that is my way of saying I understand what you are going through. I hope you are doing ok.

Steve I know how you feel and my heart goes out to you! I've had to 'send on' more than my fair share of pets because of ill heallth. It's one of those things we have to accept when we take them into our lives.

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

Pets are really family and I know the pain you feel when you lose one -- I've had to put several down in my lifetime and it's never fun. Our current family pet Badger is just like my avatar -- a Great Pyrenees that brings joy every day to our lives. But he's smart enough to stay clear of my shop -- he can't sleep with all that noise!

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

Steve, I feel for you. In '93, my parents had 2 cats and a dog die of cancer within 8 months. All were my childhood pets. I held the oldest cat in my arms at a mere 2 1/2 lbs as the vet administered the injection. It's bordering on absurd how we get attached to them and you can't explain it to someone who's never been there. My condolences.

Re: Shop Cat - Redux

My wife and I want to thank you all for the condolences. I really hadn't meant to make a big deal of this. It was just that she lived in my garage/shop and was a big part of it. I sort of associated her and woodworking and she was one of the first pictures on this board.
This certainly is the not the first time I've had to do this and it won't be the last. I am one of these people who believe it shod be done before the animals quality of life disintegrates .

I am going to take my webmaster's prerogative and close this thread. Thanks again.
