Good Road Trip, Good Friends, Good Times

Took a road trip today down to East Wake Hardwoods. Jim (Fernhollowman) rode along. Picked up some wide red oak that Rodger picked up for me and a stick of 8/4 walnut (the stuff he posted about last week at about half normal price). Jim didn't indulge. Stopped for some BBQ for lunch and then went to look at a used mower I am considering. After that it was time to visit Jim's shop. Color me green. Big shop and his DC add-on shed looks good and will look better when he gets his Clear-Vue cyclone installed. I think that he might trust me, he loaned me his raised panel door bit set. But then again, he knows where I live.

Its good to make friends from this site. During the ride we solved many woodworking problems and exchanged informative ideas (at least he shared and I learned).

George

I am sure the exchange of information went both ways. Sounds like a great day. Chalk another one up for this forum.

Got to thinking, dangerous for me, and went through the member list quickly. I know I'm no where near DaveO but I counted over 30 names that I know I know and there are probably more that i forgot I met at some event or other. Great forum for meeting people.

Not to forget all the nice folks selling rear-engine mowers. Did you like the one in Henderson? I think the one in Louisburg was $300.

Looked like it had been run over by a truck. Made the one in Louisburg look almost brand new.

Your post reminds me about Steve's vision for keeping this group pretty much NC folks - giving us the chance to really get to meet and know each other. Sounds like a great day.
