Form FC 4409-3

It's utterly stupid that I have to be "permitted" to burn some freaking tree limbs. Do you guys have a apply for a permit (Form FC 4409-3) to burn tree limbs? Man we used to have a camp fire out back often, kids love it, smores and stories and good clean family fun. We even pitched a tent a few times and camped out in the back yard at a moments notice. Cooked hot dogs on sticks (mmmm....) breakfast over an open fire in the morning in an iron skillet, double mmmm... But no more, now you have to be permitted by filling out FC 4409-3 to have family fun time around a camp fire. No more spirr of the moment "hey dad lets go build a camp fire out back and have some fun" nope you gotta apply and be permitted, to have fun, geeze. But wait you know it's perfectly ok and there is no permit required to get drunk most every day and be an a$$ to your neighbors. You just gotta shake you head and laugh because there is nothing else to do sometimes and this is progress?

I gotta move, I can't take the city life, to many rules and to many neighbors.

Re: Form FC 4409-3

Here in Raleigh, I just go on-line and get a burn permit. It takes about a minute

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: Form FC 4409-3

The mayor's autograph could be a collectors item someday
Different counties have different regulations, you can submit the info and if you can't get one through the site then it will reject you. The nice thing is that the on-line permit is good for 30 days. It's really just a formality as there are good days to burn and very bad days to burn within every 30 day period. That's our tax dollars at work

It should work for Granville Co. http://www.dfr.state.nc.us/contacts/granville.htm

Mine is for a week only, I'm going to apply on-line every 30 days, then we can have some back yard fun at the drop of the hat again

Thanks Dave, you really know a lot about a lot.

Re: Form FC 4409-3

I got a 30 day permit on-line, delivered right to my email. Wow that was so much easier than having go up to city hall and ask the mayor.

Thanks Dave your awesome...

Re: Form FC 4409-3

Out of curiosity I checked for Meck County and fornd this:

"
A Note about burning permits in Mecklenburg County:
Due to strong local ordinances, which severely restrict outdoor burning, the NC Division of Forest Resources issues no burning permits for Mecklenburg County. For further information, contact your local fire warden, or our county office with the contact information listed below."

Nice . . .

Re: Form FC 4409-3

http://www.dfr.state.nc.us/burn_perm...ng_statute.htm

Article 4C. Regulation of Open Fires. § 113-60.21. Purpose and findings. The purpose of this Article is to regulate certain open burning in order to protect the public from the hazards of forest fires and air pollution and to adapt such regulation to the needs and circumstances of the different areas of North Carolina. The General Assembly finds that open burning in proximity to woodlands must be regulated in all counties to protect against forest fires and air pollution. The General Assembly further finds that in certain counties a high percentage of the land area contains organic soils or forest types which may pose greater problems of forest fire and air pollution controls, and that in counties in which a great amount of land-clearing operations is taking place on these organic soils or these forest types, additional control of open burning is required. The counties subject to the need for additional control are classified as high hazard counties for purpose of this Article. (1981, c. 1100, s. 2; 1981 (Reg. Sess., 1982), c. 1385, s. 1.)

Yes Times have changed, but in Cumberland County this is the General Statue that applies. Terry

In York, SC we get to call an 800 number and leave name, address, and a phone # after an automated message. Kind of a bother, but easier than filing a permit.

Spooky, but would probably win in the court of law

Does it require a permit to burn in a fire pit or one of those fancy patio burners?

http://www.greenfingers.com/supersto...&pf_id=DD8154D

This type of thing.

AFAIK, it doesn't require any permit to use something like that in a patio. That's not much different than a charcoal grill...if you use enough lighter fluid It's the open fires that are of most concern.
