Congrats! Now we know who to call when we set the saw dust on fire!
Take care. My first cousin just retired from the Chattanoona, TN fire departent after 25 yrs. Just think - 50 yrs. old and now he doesn't have to punch a clock of answer any beepers.

LOL!! Just bring over the charr-broiled wood and I'll sand the garbage away. Make ya somethin' nice.

Now, I have been known to take a blow torch to some of my work, when things aren't comming out correctly... I'll give ya a holla next time I have a big project with alot of "screw-up" potential!! Make sure I don't burndown my house along with the project...

Congrats on the new gig!! Keep safe, and God Bless!!!

Thanks for the kind words, all! I've been a volunteer for 14 years, but it's just in the past 2 years that I've decided that it's my "calling". The competition for firefighting jobs is intense. Town of Cary, FD, for instance, got something like 600 applications for 27 positions last summer. The competition in places like Charlotte or, God forbid, California is much, much tougher with thousands of applicants per opening. I'm just happy to get my foot in the door, especially in a growning town like Morrisville.
Needless to say, I'm going to be a bit distracted at work for the next month and a half...

Now that's the way to start the New Year off with fireworks . . . but hopefully not a fire

We definitely need to properly celebrate this auspicious announcement
And we had better hurry . . . you left us alone at the bar once because you were "On Call" Can't allow that to happen again

Sincere congrats,
Roger

Having a brother that just retired from Santa Barbara FD(30+ yrs), and a BIL that was with Durham when they had Public Safety in the 80's (combined police and fire), and a bunch of CRAZY friends from years ago that were in Lebanon VFC in N.Durham, I know what a firefighter's life can be like. Always know that you are in our prayers. A firefighter, like all ES, is a thankless yet essential job. So let me be clear:
THANK YOU!!!! AND CONGRATS!!!!
