Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Re: eeek California Tree Trimmer Dies After Being Pulled Into Wood Chipper

a guy not long ago in wisconsin had the same thing happen but had witnesses that couldn't prevent it from happening. wonder if anyone has ever thought of inventing a "sawstop" version for a wood chipper?

I think four or five more warning stickers on those things would be real helpful.

Last one I saw still had about six square inches that were NOT covered with warnings.

Arrow Re: eeek California Tree Trimmer Dies After Being Pulled Into Wood Chipper

Way back when I was in grammar school a good friend and classmate of mine had his father lose his leg in one of those things. He foolishly tried to push a limb in with his foot. Guess the limb went in with his leg stuck to it. I don't know how he did not die as I imagine the loss of blood must have been horrific. I still remember the shock and buzz among my classmates over the incident and it left me with a very powerful memory of just how dangerous those things can be.

Many years later a colleague at work lost his thumb on the left hand in a log splitter. I have a very strong safety nerve that seems to get more and more sensitive as years go by ...

Re: eeek California Tree Trimmer Dies After Being Pulled Into Wood Chipper

I heard of a murder cover-up using one of those things. Man killed his wife and then...

Think it was up in Connecticut.

Back when I was knee high to a grasshopper. There was a guy fell out of the bucket on the truck .He landed right in the chipper. All they found was his wedding ring. That was in the 60s,thats one of the reasons the shoot faces to the back and not up. Man what a way to go.

I can't remember whether art imitated life, or the other way around. So I googled and found it was a murder back in 1986... a pilot had killed his wife and then used the chipper. No more details because this is the stuff of nightmares. Sorry if I was high-jacking the thread with something so macabre.

Re: eeek California Tree Trimmer Dies After Being Pulled Into Wood Chipper

update...

"Gonzales-Ferrer was "was standing at the back end of the chipper, throwing branches into it with his co-workers nearby," Tustin police Sgt. Pat Welch told the newspaper. "One of them looked over, and he was gone." "

Re: eeek California Tree Trimmer Dies After Being Pulled Into Wood Chipper

My late father lost his right hand in an accident at a furniture plant. He pushed a piece of wood into the machine, and I pulled him in as well. Taken off cleanly at the wrist.
