Well fellas, looks like my little town of Roanoke Rapids is going to be the next Branson/Pigeon Forge.

They had the ground breaking for the Randy Parton Theater this morning. He is Dollys' brother, and is the one that made Dollys idea of Dollywood what it is today.

I was on the City Planning Board until my term ended 3 months ago, and I can tell you in about 3 years, this thing is going to be big, and 5-7 years, it's going to be REALLY big. I remember Randy Parton saying at a meeting, that this is exactly how Branson and Pigeon Forge started out.

I really don't know if I care for the idea of living in a tourist attraction town. Well. my daugther will be graduating high school in 6 years, so if it gets to crazy, I'm gone.

Anyway, here is a picture of Dolly(her brother is to your right w/the beard

Run away, run away fast. I lived for a while in Nashville which is a huge tourist attraction, for some reason people like country music???? All the local spots slowly turned in to touristy crap, and you had to pay for everything...greed began to rule. Although people did like to come visit me, I was a cheap hotel. Dave

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

My favorite sticker on the back window of my truck:

"Stop inbreeding, ban country music"

I moved to the south with that sticker on my truck 4 1/2 years ago and amazingly, I've yet to have my tires slashed.

It's right next to the other two:

"I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter" and
"Your village called, their idiot is missing"

I don't see the point of having a sticker if it's not going to peeve somebody...

Sorry about that ChrisC, maybe your property values will go up? Least its not a commercial hog farm I suppose...

But on another note

I don't see the point of having a sticker if it's not going to peeve somebody...

Im not partial to the confederate flag or any particular political/demographic group, but I am ever so proud of that sticker.

Californians are considered Granolla Mix, full of fruits, nuts and flakes and woodworking tool addicts . You're not from California are you???

Dave (really just ribbing you, meaning no harm)

Well, I have to say that I grew up listening to Country Music, and it's pretty much what I listen to now. Roanoke Rapids is definitly a small southern town. I like GRITS, and the whole nine yards.

I have some Yankee friends, I even like Vanguard and he's from New Jersey(or is just Jersey).

Steve, coming from California, we would just listen to you and say "Ya ain't from 'round here are ya?" Then wait for you tell us where you're from.

What I'm afraid of is the traffic, and just the general way of life disappearing from here. Only time will tell.
