Unhappy CSI Durham

Hope this doesn't happen in your neighborhood. Live one mile from Southpoint Mall . . . sure didn't expect it in mine.

Gang members roared up to neighbor's rental trailer and opened fire. I was 400 yds away out of truck checking my mailbox when I heard shots. I decided to continue my errand and returned 15-20 minutes later. Six folks (including two small children) were in the trailer that received numerous rounds. After entering home they took one person at gunpoint to their awaiting Suburban and sped off. They shot out car windows and fired on the trailer from the outside and from the inside out The renters may have fired back. Three Uzis were recovered, two outside and one inside.

Rounds fired into and out of trailer

Rounds with forensic direction markers that penetrated two outside walls at end of trailer.

Had I owned a weapon I might have been embolden to investigate the gunshots. And I would have been confronted with 6-8 gunmen and at least three Uzi's.

Roger

Re: CSI Durham

I would look into getting an M-60 and mounting it at your house just for precautionary measures. I am glad nothing like that has happened in my neighborhood. What is really surprising is that they are building some expensive house all around the mall. Glendale by Centex starts in the upper $400's. Kind of makes you think it can happen anywhere.

Glad you were smart enough to leave Roger, not worth getting shot for someone else's argument.

Oh s*****t, your neighbor might want to re-think his tenant screening process. Glad to hear that you were a safe distance away.

Roger - glad you are ok. You shouldn't need a bullet proof vest to check the mail.

Time to think about relocating.

Re: CSI Durham

That ain't good. Glad you're OK, but something like that would seriously ruin any level of comfort I had in my neighborhood. Hope things work out for the better.

Re: CSI Durham

Needless to say, I am very happy that we are no longer living in Durham -- it is not only cooler in the mountains, it is saner as well. Stay safe, Roger.

Glad YOU didn't get any new air holes like the trailer did! Keep an eye over your shoulder at all times!

Re: CSI Durham

Thanks for the concern folks, but it truly was an anomalie.

My neighbor put a trailer on his property several years ago for his daughter. It has been rented intermittently since. Considering it's current condition, I don't think it will be rented again!

During the 16 years I lived here, there hasn't been any crime . . . just affluent housing developments and the ever-growing mall stuff.

Re: CSI Durham

Roger,
Thanks for the reality check. I've been thinking about Kent until I read this. I'm thinkin' this really sucks and I want to believe this is an isolated incident...for what it's worth I'm thankful it didn't come any closer.
