I built some bird houses with copper roofs, does anyone know how to get that blue green aged look. Thanks Dwight

Although I've not tested these, this source looks like you can get just about any color patina you want. You may also want to check craft stores like Michael's for Patina chemicals for use on copper.

Dwight, the Aug 2001 issue #134 if Wood Magazine had an article on creating a patina finish on copper. Fine Woodworking, issue #170 in Jun 2004 also had an article on patina finishes.

David Marks of Wood Works specializes in adding a patina finish to many of his projects. He has some amazing examples on his site (djmarks.com -> this one is my favorite http://www.djmarks.com/photo.asp?ima...woodvessel.jpg ). On his site, he has a link to the following chemical company. The link I'm adding below has 6 different patina looks. Click on the look you are after and they provide the 'recipe'. You can order the chemicals needed from the website....good luck!

There is a great book 'The Colouring and Patinatination of Metals' . It gives all recipies for all kinds of color for copper. I left it at the shop, but I'll look up tomorrow and send you the recioies.
I have done it a while back and it worked great.

Dwight,
Where did you get the copper and what weight did you use?

The natural patina from copper is from sulfer, or more precise, sulfate or sulfite. If you have access to battery acid, you can water this down. Some professional drain cleaners have sulfuric acid as well. It can be dangerous if you don't water these down. Foaming copper spits.

I've got buckets of sodium sulfate, sulfite and thiosulfate at work...
