I was just wondering if this was one of our members picking up a log for a sawyer...

Yep, but not for a truck. Note the matching sweater

I think a truck that color just screams out for a tree to fall on it, plus it's a ford...

Do you know approximately what percentage of all woods accidents in a year are typically the result of a chain saw cut?

CDC.GOV says --- Bystanders or coworkers should remain at least 2 tree lengths (at least 150 feet) away from anyone felling a tree and at least 30 feet from anyone operating a chain saw to remove limbs or cut a fallen tree.

Guess the forgot to mention pink ford pickups

http://www.bt.cdc.gov/disasters/chainsaws.asp

While researching chainsaws in my quest to build a log splitter to cut down the center of a 6' diameter log, I ran across a interesting fact. A little hand held chainsaw chain can move up to 45 MPH at full throttle. Considering I would need at least a 16' loop of chain (if not more) to run the machine I have in my head, just imagine what would happen if that chain broke and became loose from the bar. 16' of 45 MPH chain saw chain whipping through the air like coiled up rattle snake. So I kinda scratched the idea for now, only because I'm just a we little bit scared

Seriously have a high degree of respect for your chainsaw because it is very unforgiving.

BASPLUIM.COM says - Bystanders or coworkers should remain at least (5000 / sawyer's IQ) yards away from anyone felling a tree. Double the number if the sawyer frequently uses phrases like "Hey y'all, watch this".

Yeah, chain saws scare me too. More than table saws, routers and RAS combined. There are just too many variables out in the field.

16' feet of chain whipping about? Might make for a good movie, "Stovall Chain Saw Massacre".

my lucas slabber has around 10' of ripping chain being propelled by an 18hp kohler.. I do not like slabbing while people are counting the hairs on my knuckles..so I do that when they are not around.
