Ahoy & Avast There,

Ran into some bad water for a while and couldn't spend the time we wanted to, setting up our shop and putting the new ShopSmith together less alone actually create something. First someone stole our sailboat, which was home for years and then my 90 yo father had surgery which went badly. But now we are back on course and really NEED to get out into the shop.

We bought the TurboCad Deluxe Version 10 and are trying to wade through that and hopefully the ShopSmith will be together today or tomorrow.

We did actually cut some wood....we had to take out one workbench to make room for the SS. When we were done cutting and as the blade slowly came to a stop, Irene and I were whopping and hollering like we had just completed Noah's Ark! Mmmmm small things amuse small minds.

Anyway, it's great to be back and we would like to say that during our "stormy" weather, we took time to at least read some posts on the site here and it did offer some respite from an otherwise tense and uncomfortable time.

Be Well and Keep On Sawing,

Duke & Irene

Welcome back to you both!

Did you ever get a chance to post some PICS of that new toy?

Take Care!

Sounds like a bad turn of events there... hopefully things are smoothing out for you and your family.

Sorry to hear about your rough seas. Did you get the sailboat back? That isn't something that comes to mind as being stolen often. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the new Shopsmith, can't wait to see what y'all produce with it.

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

Welcome back. We missed you. Sorry for the difficult times. I was beginning to think you guys got trapped in your shop while installing you new ShopSmith! What was the first thing you cut? We're hoping your life settles back down and you have smoother sailing ahead,

guys, has the boat been recovered??? when my car was stolen a little over three years ago, it took 14 days for the police to recover it (one more day and I could have had a new truck!), then it was almost 45 days before we worked out a way to get it back from NY.

stolen from Brooklyn, recovered in Queens, and I was able to pick it up in Belhaven, on the far eastern end of Long Island!

Good luck with the boat!

Ahoy,

It sure is great to back with our friends here at North Carolina Woodworker. Dad is coming along fine...almost lost him there but he told me today that he wasn't done "aggravating" me yet! They found the boat on the other side of Merritt Island in Florida but whoever stole it trashed it....Now we have to figure out how to get it up here so I can repair it. But, at least they found it floating!!! The main thing is Dad is ok....really had us scared.

Now the D&D Woodworks.....I guess the pix of the ShopSmith Instruction Manual wasn't proof enough, eh? The shop is packed with the machine and all the various parts. Took us 2 hrs to just get the legs & castors on it!!! 15 nuts, bolts and washers & I was pooped out! Dang meds make me tired to begin with. So, today we will start assembling the rest of it and pix will follow for better or worse.

Cathy, as far as our first We had to remove one of the workbenches to make room and it was anchored to the floor, the wall, the ceiling, and to everything else within 10 feet of it. Once that was done, we actually used a saw to cut the bench in half to use it to widen the other work bench. So, we actually did do some woodworking!!!! I won't mention anything about the hammer breaking and hitting Irene in the leg though! She's OK but she is a lot wiser now and also in charge of all hammering now.

Whew! Sorry for the long epistle but for the past couple weeks the only people I have talked to are doctors, nurses, and cops.

Be well,
Duke & Irene

Duke,

Welcome back. Glad to hear things are starting to work out! Just be careful, take your time and stay healthy while you take on that shop. One thing that I have discovered in my 14 mos of retirement is, the jobs/chores always seem to wait for me! I never have to chase them!!!!

With all that said. I bet you are chomping at bit to see the new ShopSmith up and running! But, remember. Just "chew off a wee bit at a time". You know "sneek up on it" and take r' slow and steady.

Great to have you back! (And the vessel too!)

Wayne
