I was woundering if anyone has a steel building as their shop. I was looking around and I can get a 25' x 30' building for $5000 (plus the foundation) I dont think there is anyway that I could build a building from wood for that price. They also said that I could put it up is 4 - 5 days. I was just woundering if anyone has any experience with a building like this.

a friend of mine eracts these buildings.
that's about the right time except the floor.
mot companies pour a slab and bount the building on the slab and seal the bottom flanges with silicone and foam.
that's a good price as well.
if it were mine i'd go ahead and insulate it from the start and make putting up wall board easier.
good luck and enjoy.
mine a 10x20 prebuilt, insulated and paneled, with builtin air filtration.

I have a small steel building, 36' x 60' x 14' high sides with two 10'w x 12'tall over head doors and 3 walk in doors, 6" foundation and insulated.
Cost $24,000 all I had to do was put 3 phase power in and do all the wiring.
Also put AC and Heat in. Total cost was about $40,000. and that was in 1995.

In 1996 added a 16' x 60' wood frame addition onto the back side. I made it out of used wood and tin top. Foundation and all about $4,500. I had to build it my self.

So all total I have a 52' x 60' x 14' high for about $44,000. in 1996 costs.
You need to go for it, but you will need help...

Chad

I have a steel shop.
I poured a pad 20 x 40 and had 2 of those 595.00 carports set up end to end on it, with 2 foot taller legs than standard.
I had them add metal to the sides. I also had them close in one end and the other end I had them install a roll up door.
So my cost wasn't allot.
I then went in and added 2x4's to their supports, cut out and framed up, and inserted a standard 36" outside door.
I added insulation to the underside of the ceiling and on the walls.

Added a large window ac unit which i framed out and cutout the wall on one side.
For the winter I have put in a kerosene turbo heater wired up to a thermostat. I use this to knock the chill out and keep the inside temps above 55 degrees when I'm not in it.
While I'm inside I use a large LP tank with a 2 burner element, usually only have to have one lit.

Overall cost is under 5000.00, not exactly sure how much under.
I am happy with it. If I was forced to do it over I would stick build it myself.
Metal buildings are hot during the summer and cold during the winter.

In the 90's I had a Machine Shop in my shop. The food in 99 got it and my house. I got a Little $$$$ from it and made my cabinets my self. Now I am a Supervisor of a Machine Shop in Wilson and make Pullouts for Cabinets at nights and weekends..
