I called and got a guy there to fax me a price list. He said that they're currently working on getting a website set up.
American Woodyards is on Hillsborough St across from the fairgrounds in Raleigh.
He said that their lumber is not graded, but anything that they kiln dry is "good stuff".
I uploaded the price list as a .pdf here

Chris,

I can't speak for the local area, but those prices seem high, especially for ungraded lumber.

I drove by there today and was amazed to see how much wood they had stacked and stickered. I had thought that they were thinking of closing..I guess not. Those prices are a little high for ungraded stock, but prices in the Raleigh area are a little high over all. I paid $2.29 for FAS Poplar the other day.
Thanks for posting that, I will have to keep them in mind again.

Dave

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I bought from them a few years ago. Nice guy that ran the place. Big NCState fan ( a plus for me). I remember I got what I thought to be a good on some oak.

There's a lumber yard in four-point area, you can
do a Google search in the rec.woodworking group.

I called the gentleman, but haven't been there
yet, the price was good.

I apologize if this seems like a plug for woodweb, but they do have some good information here.

This is a pretty good link to what is hot, not and where wood may become scarce. Its the summary for the Hardwood Review Weekly ( yes its an actual publication) and the article posted is usually a month or so off as you have to pay for the real time market observations.

http://www.hardwoodreview.com/

This link shows hardwood market observations by lumber yard in the eastern united states based upon concentration yard pricing for net tally
(measurement after kiln drying)

http://www.woodweb.com/Resources/RSL...deEastern.html

just some stuff to mull over.

Hey Chris,

How do they compare to Capitol City... which is just up the street from them?
