a 200 year old house may be of interest to local historical societies, perhaps you should shop it to them?

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County has a DeConstruction group that will take a structure apart and resell the recovered materials through the ReUse Center. This center keeps somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,200 tons of material from reaching the landfills. The resale of material goes to the support of the Habitat program. They can sponsor several homes per year with the money made. Habitat For Humanity of Wake County - "Building Hope in Wake"

I'll see about getting some pic's. The house is in Stanley,NC so I don't think habitat of wake would be willing to come that far. Beside's the wife's family would really like to sell it themselves. They have been trying find someone to buy it,take it down for resale to someone that is referbishing an era house. |

The deconstruction of a large old house can be pretty hazardous by an inexperienced crew so the size and cost of the house would be a determining factor whether I would be interested. |

It was hard dirty work but man did I save a ton of money. If you got the time and the wood in the house is in good shape You may want to consider it. I've still got some oak lumber beams and heart wood pine stacked under the shop from the orginal house (extra stuff). I gave all the 12x12 white oak sils away. This was before I had my saw mill, else I would have sawed them up and had a ton of old growth white oak lumber.
