Wife and I are looking to get away before Christmas, anyone have a rental unit available
12/19-12/23, or know someone who does? We would prefer to go to the Mts., but open to alternatives. TIA.

Love the mountains, but don't forget the NC Outer Banks!
You can drive to Nags Head area in ~3 hours from Raleigh. Rental rates are greatly discounted now, beaches are beautiful and uncrowded, and it's a great time for fishing

+1... I lived Down East in Beaufort for a while. I loved this time of year on the Outer Banks. My favorite weekend getaway while I was there was a quick ferry trip to Ocracoke.

Myrtle Beach is nice too. Great food (at Dino's places) and some good shows.

Re: Pre Christmas getaway?

+1 on the Outer Banks as well as I have just returned from a week there . The only downside is that a lot of places ( resteraunts and such ) close for the winter
I went through Outer Beaches Realty and was very happy with their service

Re: Pre Christmas getaway?

there are some good winter getaway specials to be had this time of year
Gatlinburg is one of our favorite spots to head to, but
www.romanticasheville.com might be worth a look

Re: Pre Christmas getaway?

We were looking to do a "Christmas Tree getaway", but decided against it. It included hotel stay and going out on the mountain and picking and cutting your own Christmas tree. One of my coworkers has been doing it for years as a family thing.

He talked me out of doing it though. I have small kids and the incline is pretty steep and I can hear my girls. "CARRY ME". "DADDY, CARRY ME".
