Well, I have reached a milestone once again, you may remember my pleading for moral support in March of last year.

I have made it one year not smoking and vow to keep it up for years to come. However there are days that I still could fire up a nice fat cigar and enjoy it. Not gonna do it though, the wife would kill me. I could not have done it without the support of my friends here.. I have quit before, and started back, but this time it is for good. Thanks for all of your support..

Re: One Year Tomorrow!!!!

When I quit in 1982 (after a heart attack at 38 years old) I never wanted another cigarette. BUT, I did, like you, think a nice cigar wouldn't hurt. I never fired one up. I always thought it might be the one that got me started back on cigarettes.

Hang in there Bud. You're over the hump! Congratulations!!!

Re: One Year Tomorrow!!!!

Congratulations Tracy!
I know how hard it is to quit, this coming June will be 5 years for me. It is easier as time passes. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for 25 years and I think it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. At the suggestion of my wife, I put my cigarette money in a fund and buy woodworking stuff with it. I have much better tools now.
With the price of smokes now, tell your wife you have saved enough for a new lathe.

Re: One Year Tomorrow Smoke Free!!!!

Way to go Tracy. I don't think the craving ever goes away completely, but it does get easier. Like you, I've avoided cigars as well. Why play with fire?

And congrats to Travis and Steve as well, for quitting and staying quit!

I've been smoke-free for one year, ten months, one week, three days and 23 hours. 13619 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2,506.00. <--- that's a Grizzly 12" jointer/ planer with shelix cutterhead!!!

Re: One Year Tomorrow Smoke Free!!!!

But, I must admit there are times that I walk through a cloud of smoke and am tempted to take a deep breath, sometimes it smells really good. Sometimes it doesn't. But I have resisted taking that deep breath for fear that I would enjoy it. It is amazing the hold that tobacco has on us.

Well, it is tomorrow so CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Way to go, Tracy! I know from experience that you've been through a rough time to quit and deserver a BIG round of applause!

Keep it up. It does get easier and easier. In fact, I couldn't tell you the last time I had a craving and smelling smoke is now revolting.
