Administrator I say may, because I can't find any official proof on "main-stream" information sources. But in our woodworking world it has been reported - FWW Link I hope that his passing is significant enough for the rest of the world to find out. I know we have had two great losses in the Ww'ing community with Maloof and now possibly Krenov. Who will be the new masters?

Honestly Honey, that will cost around $100 $150 $200, and I need a few more tools.

I suspect it is bona fide since it is not April 1 and it is from FWW (I got the same notice today). Indeed, it is a grave loss to the woodworking community and to mankind.

Brian Condran built this cabinet decorated with a marquetry likeness of James Krenov to honor him, the Director of the Fine Woodworking program at the College of the Redwoods in Fort Bragg, CA.
It was displayed at the Highlight Gallery in Mendocino in September 2001.
NONE of those photos are Krenov's work. They are pictures of work inspired by him. Don't know why the Maloof photo is there.
How about some photos of his work? Anything less is a dishonor.

The official site
The author of four crucial books for any serious woodworker, Krenov taught a philosophy that has become a prerequisite for advanced cabinetry throughout the world. Krenov lectured at schools and universities all over the world and received numerous awards for his achievements both as a trailblazer and a craftsman. He was regularly featured in numerous magazines world-wide. A recognized furniture maker in Sweden, he moved to Northern California in 1981, where he created and led the College of the Redwoods' Fine Woodworking School. In his twenty years with the school he taught hundreds of eager students from around the world while continuing to build his own fine furniture. He retired from the college in 2002, still actively creating cabinets in his home woodshop. As his eye sight failed him, he continued to make planes by touch until the spring of 2009.
James Krenov is represented with works at museums in Sweden, Norway, Japan and the U.S http://jameskrenov.com/current_work.htm
