What did you think?
Pick up any good deals?
I just picked up the usual sandpaper, glue, TimberWolf bandsaw Blade and set of Soft Sanders. http://www.style-linecorp.com/
Kyle had quite a bit of wood and seems to have had a pretty good show.

I picked up a few winning Raffle tickets from the North Carolina Woodworker booth and a terrible Jones to build a wooden geared clock. Kept looking at Ted's masterpiece with wonderment. It worked like a flashing fishing lure to get visitors into our booth.
Kyle,
Those all the way hotdogs were good huh? I must have a cast iron gut.

Kyle, had I known that you were there with your wood for sale, I certainly would (wood?) have stopped by to introduce myself -- as it was, I was pretty well glued to the NCWoodworker booth on the opposite side of the convention space and only made a short trip around the hall -- I saw the area where you were, but I just went by as I took my break without noticing that it was you! Doh! Better look next time! Hope things went well for you.

Mike (shamrock), Tom (Strigus) and I made the trip together. It was nice to see several NCWWers in effect. While I missed the (what was becoming annual) BBQ with everyone, it will still a nice show. While I didn't see any "had to have deals" I did pick up a few boxes of incredibly priced Klingspor sandpaper ($5 a box!), and a spiraling/texturing lathe tool set at 20% off list.
After the show we ran by the Klingspor Hickory store so Mike could get his mobile base, then we hauled over to Rick's place (The Woodworking Source) in Mooresville before heading back to Charlotte.
All in all ... a good day! |

Got a deal on a 12" 40T blade for my miter saw at the Freud booth, and the Kreg Master System. Klingspor had the best deals in the show, but I can only use so much sandpaper! Enjoyed the event.

I did make it up for a couple of hours Friday afternoon. Did not take anything extra home with me but did get to meet a few members I had not met before, check out a good show and some nice prizes for the raffle . Matt (Splint Eastwood ) and I checked the Powermatic drill press over and that is a sweet machine. Disclaimer, we can't be held responsible for any drool marks .gif)

I also got a gripper, but that was it.
I was hoping they would have a bit more floor/stationary machinery like an oscillating spindle sander or an oscillating edge sander, but alas, it was not meant to be. I also looked for a barrell grip Bosch jig saw, but they only had the top handle units. If they would have had any of those three I expect I would have bought them.
It was a good trip though, and I am glad I went. It was good to meet those I had not met and spend some time. I will go back, that is for sure. |

I was there Friday morning and was suprised to see such a crowd; that can only help to grow the event. Would like to see more publications and more vendors. Still a good event even though I left with only ideas and my Christmas list. Did I say I had my life with me. .gif) |

Oh well - I did pick up a good deal on a Tormek to replace my old wet grinding system that was BBQ'd last year...
Seeing all of the great items on display at the North Carolina Woodworker booth was also a treat; and Ted's clock was absolutely inspiring.
Doug and I stopped and met Dragon (David) in Lincolnton on the way to the show, and in addition to getting a great deal on a bench and some shelve units, we also got to visit with David.
The only thing that bummed me out was that I did not realize that Kyle was at the show. I walked right by his booth w/o looking or stopping (it's not like I don't have a lot of wood to look at here at the sawmill....); Doug mentioned that Kyle was there after we had left and it was too late to go back. Bummer...

We did spot Kyle and his new partner and spent time talking to them and drooling over their beautiful wood. I saw several NCWWer's and talked to them. No huge purchases to report- got one of the Klingspore $39 RO sanders, looks like a good sander, they're made by Bosch for Klingspore. Other than that, I got 2 packs of scuff pads. We did have to go to the store to purchase the dust collector adapter for the sander. The DC adapter doesn't fit my hose so more gadgets are in my future.

Lots of North Carolina Woodworker friends, Ted's clock, lots of eye candy. Could not pass up that $39 sander and the sand paper deals. Spent more then I had planned but no big ticket items.
All and all had a great time. I want to thank Coleman and the Klingspor crew for playing host again. Can't wait until next year.
