Take heart, fellow WoodWorkers! The economy is NOT as bad as we have been told! There IS disposable income out there!

Here's confirmation:

15" Jet Planer (no casters, rusty bed) $675 plus 10%
PC Router and Jessem Lift $400 + 10%
24" Performax Sander $500 + 10%
16" Rikon Band Saw $975 + 10%
1.5 hp Jet Dust Collector $525 + 10%
1 hp Delta Dust Collectors $140 + 10%
15 gal 12 volt ATV Sprayer $120 + 10% ($125 NEW at Trac Supply)
3 hp Jet Table saw w/extension $500 and climbing when I left!

Did get to meet Gotcha (Dennis) today so it was a good morning after all. (Dennis, you need to post a new avatar! That boy's lost some weight!)

Hand tools were bringing near new pricing, some above new.

Life is good!!

Re: Auction Sale Results

I left right after the Table Saw, too. It went to $1,000 +10%. The Jet wood lathe brought $850 + 10%. Talked with a former employee that lives near there and he said he couldn't believe locals were buying this stuff because no one much around there even had a job. I felt like prices were high too so I kept my hands in my pockets too. The big winner of the day was the auctioneer. He got a 10% buyer's premium and probably got a 10% seller's premium as well over & above ad fees.
Glad I got to meet Reggie even though we didn't drag out the camera.

NO worries, Randy! Only thing I came home with was my buyer's number!

Whew!

Re: Auction Sale Results

Well, here's another vote for ridiculous prices there at the auction. I also left shortly after the table saw was sold; I was wondering if news of the economy hadn't reached Locust yet. I knew I was wasting my time when the mortiser went for more than new not even counting the 10% fee. I told my wife when I die to call these guys to do the auction.

Gee, you ain't kidding about disposable income! Some folks do get caught up in the fun a bit too much.

Same here...I had printed a listing of most ww items with standard retails and multiple items sold for more than average retail then added the buyers 10% premium! Bid on a few items but seems either these guys don't know prices or got caught up in the auction frenzy. I did buy a box of Incra items for half of retail but the bargains were few and FAR between.

Bill was showing me this list after he left the auction ... that is just crazy. Someone doesn't have a clue about market prices!

Yup. I was checking eBay the other day, saw the PSI table saw dust guard listed for $199. Plus $38 shipping. Amazon has it for $149 plus free shipping.

Re: Auction Sale Results

Seems there were more NCWWs there than I recognized and obviousy more than I know personally. Perhaps next time we all need to wear North Carolina Woodworker hats or something so we don't run up prices on each other?

Don't worry, Bill. I don't think Dennis or I bid on a single item.

Would have been nice to meet you.

Wish I'd known about that hat! I kept looking at Dennis this morning (we'd never met) and had him figured for a Fed!!

It really is a nice hat!!
